1996 - NATIONAL FOOTWEAR ASSOCIATION was formed as a non-commercial
organization, designed to unite manufacturers and suppliers of footwear,
components, accessories and raw materials.
Founding companies:
ECONIKA Corporation, ALBA Company, STEP Publishing House, ZEBRA,
INTERCONTRACT.
NFA members:
30 companies in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Kaluga, Ukraine, with
the total sales volume about 45 mln pairs in 1998.
1997 - National Footwear Association of Russia was incorporated as an
observing member into the European Confederation of Footwear
Associations (Brussels).
NFA concluded international agreements on co-operation with the
National Association of Footwear Enterprises of Italy, the National
Association of Footwear Enterprises of North Greece and Association of
Footwear Industrialists of Turkey.
National Footwear Association is a member of the Advisory Council on
Foreign Economic Relations of the State Customs Committee of the Russian
Federation, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Council of
Branch Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Russian Federation.
National Footwear Association became a co-organizer of the Moscow
International Footwear Exhibition MOSSHOES.
Areas of NFA activities:
1. Establishing constructive dialogue with the legislative, executive,
governmental and local authority bodies, public organizations with the
purpose of active participation in shaping of the state policy regarding
the footwear business.
2. Rendering organizational, methodical and consulting assistance.
3. Carrying-out marketing studies in the area the structure, tendencies
of the Russian footwear market, its regional peculiarities.
4. Organizing conferences, seminars, exhibitions and other events.
5. Protecting lawful rights and interests of NFA members in any
echelons of power.
6. Special attention of NFA is paid to manufacturers.
7. Working with credit and finance institutions in order to develop and
support manufacturers.
8. Preparing and implementing the projects associated with acquisition
and introduction of up-to-date technologies.
9. Rendering assistance in marketing studies and issues of modern
management.
10. Assisting participants of exhibitions, in certification of
products, business travel services.
11. Interaction with the State Customs Committee of the Russian
Federation on matters of forming-up economic mechanisms for preventing
dumping and forged product import.
International cooperation:
NFA is developing international cooperation with the goal of attaining
Russia's full membership in the international market:
1. Examining, classifying and adapting the international experience.
2. Signing agreements on cooperation with foreign associations;
- Assistance in getting visas.,
- Rendering objective information on companies, state of markets;
- Searching for new partners;
- Assistance in getting bank credits;
- Assistance in insuring contracts, credits.,
- Solving the problems of footwear certification.
3. Attracting foreign investments for development of the Russian
manufacturer.
4. Protecting lawful rights and interests of NFA members abroad.
5. Participating in international exhibitions, seminars and
conferences.

The main goal of our noncommercial association is to consolidate local
shoe retailing shops. The members of the project consider as the basic
tasks to develop the civilized shoe market in St.Petersburg, to create
the uniform information space in system of shoe retailing trade, and to
interact actively with city's authorities.
At present association is going the following directions :
- To learn and analyze of world footwear union's and association's
experience, and promote of the experience among the association's
members.
- To create the specialized uniform databases to optimize of the work
with the shoe market information. The database will be available for all
the shoe market participants.
- To distribute the ideas and principles of the developed competitive
shoe market.
- To help to the members of the association and for other all
interested sides parties on a wide spectrum of different problems faced
to organization of trade in footwear.
